Self-Help for Dummies

1. Don’t eat what you don’t need.
2. Stop doing what doesn’t work.
3. In most instances, the solution is you.
4. Getting offended is optional. As is getting off your fat arse. See how that works?
5. Changing fifty things at once is a bad plan.
6. Knowing isn’t doing. Do more.
7. Joining a gym isn’t attending a gym.
8. Being smart is not the same as doing smart.
9. Intentions aren’t actions. Stop intending.
10. You won’t undo three decades of bad choices in three weeks. Be realistic.
11. Be more committed to success than comfort.
12. Control your controllables and let go of the rest.

Who said I can’t be brief?

13. Ignore Craig and eat another pizza slice

Brief enough?

Ok seriously, number 5 is the crucial one. Why? Well, I used to at the end of the day count what I did not do. That, all, is what causes stress. Rejoice in what you did. Just saying ;)

Thanks Craig! Every day I order a number 9!
My intentions are fantastic…
my reality sucks.
I am now getting off the net and my fat arse to do something about it.

How is it that you write exactly what I need to hear, exactly when I need to hear it.
Sheer brilliance I guess.

…I just tweeted about trying to choose whether to go back to the comfort of my bed or get off my arse and go out into the world to get some work/study done before “actual” work.

I guess reading this decided it for me!
But brrrr it’s cold…. XD

Pretty sure, if memory serves, Craig wrote something like- Do it, or make excuses, it’s your choice.
It’s warmer outside than you think :)

Ditto, Emily.
Thanks Craig for the clarity: there seems to be a lot of ‘doing’ in there, so what I take from your wise words is: stop talking about it and (as those footwear people say) Just Do It!

Great post – thanks for sharing! It’s direct, to the point and I completely agree. In my book, I introduce the Systematic Attitude Development-Technique™ (SAD-T™) which is a readily available self-empowerment tool. A systematic method that gets you the results you want, when you need them the most. It’s simple and similar to what you’ve mentioned above, but my process gets people to logic versus emotional roadblocks.
