September News Update

Hello Kids…

No lesson as such today, just a bunch of news and a little something for your listening pleasure. I will conclude our current MLH series before the end of the week. Probably. ;)

Renovate Your Life

Don’t forget that the next instalment of our RYL program is taking place next month at Anglesea here in Victoria. There are still a few places available, so if your life is in need of some renovating, your mind is in need of a little stimulating and your body is in need of a minor make-over, tarry not! To learn a little about the program and hear what other people have said about the RYL experience, click here. If you have any questions you can email Johnnie here.

RYL On-line!

Well about time! Soon you will be able to do an RYL program from the comfort of your home – anywhere in the world – and talk to me live. Giddy-up. After a bazillion requests for an on-line version of the program, the wheels of progress are turning. Johnnie, Kylie (one of our team members) and Moi are in the throes (whatever that means) of putting together our cyber version of the program. At this stage it looks like it will run for eight weeks, with one ninety minute class each week. Each session will be delivered via an audio-conference set up with ‘class members’ dialing in. Because of the interactive nature of this format (that is, you and I chatting), the numbers for each program will probably be limited to around thirty. Of course there will be weekly notes (part of the overall work book) provided for all participants before each session. Stay tuned for dates, times and costs.

Mary Update

As most of you know, my mother has been through the wars lately. Last Monday she had major surgery to remove cancer from her bowel (five hours worth) and she was expected to be in hospital for up to two weeks. Following the post I wrote about her, the Old Darl was inundated with love, well-wishes, cards and even flowers from total strangers. You guys rock. To all you people who took the time and energy to share a little unconditional love (in whatever way), thank you times a bazillion. It’s my firm belief that all those wishes, thoughts, prayers and positive vibes helped her heal quicker than anyone expected. Her potential fourteen day stay was over in six! The doctors were blown away at the speed of her recovery. The prognosis from here is very positive. At this stage it’s unlikely that she will need further surgery or any other treatment. :) That means no chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Thanks again.

Renovate Your Body Presentation

For my Melbourne readers… at 7pm on September 23 (Wednesday week), I will be speaking at the Goodlife Health Club in Wantirna and sharing a little Craig-love and motivation with the masses. The presentation will run for ninety(ish) minutes and will cover the following:

  • Getting off the weight-loss merry-go-round
  • How and why we sabotage our own goals (and how not to!)
  • The peril that is over-thinking
  • Why most people fail with fitness – and how not to!
  • The relationship between psychology and physiology
  • How to lower our biological age
  • Becoming more effective and empowered decision makers
  • Moving from mediocre to amazing
  • Understanding, defining and creating success
  • What we can learn from discomfort and pain
  • What they don’t tell you about motivation
  • Understanding and integrating the concept of complete health
  • Maximising genetic potential – why biology isn’t destiny
  • Why diets don’t work
  • Exercise myths and fallacies
  • Why many low-fat foods aren’t (low fat!)
  • Learning to regain control – fear mastery
  • Overcoming destructive habits

If you’re interested in booking a place – or if you have any questions – you can contact Kylie on 0418 518 272 or you can email her here. The cost is $30.00 but if you organise a group and ask nicely, the lovely Kylie might do you a deal.

Noosa Meet-up

Next week I will be spending some time in the very beautiful resort of Noosa up in the Sunshine State (Queensland for my international readers). Tough gig but someone’s gotta do it, so selflessly, I’ve put my hand up. Anyhoozle, I thought that while I was in a different part of the country, I’d see if any of you craigharperdotcommers might like to meet up for a coffee and some stimulating conversation. Now I know this is very short notice and I realise that none of you probably live anywhere near Noosa, but on the off chance that you’d like to hang out with me for an hour or so, I will be in the foyer of the Sheraton at 8pm next Monday night (September 14) – somewhere near reception. The address is 14-16 Hastings st. We’ll find our way to a coffee shop (or cheesecake factory) from there. Let me know if any of you might make it along, otherwise just rock up – I’ll be there.

And last but not least….

My Interview with Sugar Ray Leonard – something for the Lads

Okay, so the following interview is probably gonna be of very little interest to most of you girls. Unless of course you have an interest in boxing. One of the many cool hats I wear is the sports radio host hat. Last week I had a particularly cool day when I interviewed one of the greatest boxers of all-time; Sugar Ray Leonard. My co-host (Mark) and I had a chat with the uber-boxer and he was gracious, interesting and… scared of heights! You can take a listen to the interview by clicking on the play button below. It runs for around 13 minutes. Enjoy.

See you next time. :)

Thanks for the update, champ .. and really great to hear how AWESOME Mary is doing! Very impressive indeed!!

OK, Proof-Reader hat on. You mean you (and co.) are “in the throes of….” meaning; in the process of, suffering from, struggling with, wrestling with, toiling with, anguished by, agonized by, in the pangs of. So there. Now you know.

Have a great hump day .. when it arrives in 73 minutes. I’m off to bed!

Wonderful news about your Mum Craig. I hope things stay as positive.

And, did you say Noosa? Well now, as it happens I’m a not too big a drive from there, and while I’m not sure about a cheescake factory, I do know of some mighty nice places to coffee in Noosa. I will let you know for sure later in the week, but at this stage it looks like I will be able to make it.

You won’t miss me, I’ll be the one about half your height. Ok, well, maybe you will miss me, but I know what you look like.
Can’t wait!

I tell you what, you get y’self a nice little skirt, some heels, a splash of colour and something to make you smell a little less like an oil rig ;) and you’re in! Top-to-toe, sleeping bags. Of course.

Okay, perhaps a little spooning. :)

Hey there Craig and Team,
So glad to hear Mum’s doing well, it’s a long hard road but positive thinking is 50% of the recovery.
I can’t make your presentation Wednesday 23rd in Wantirna, are you doing another one soon ( apart from Angelsea ) ?
Thanks heaps

So there I was, running 15 minutes late due to a late train and roadworks, wandering the streets (street?) of Noosa looking closely at any bald guy over 6 foot. I may or may not have even introduced myself to a few of them.

Alas, I was to be disappointed. No coffee with Craig for me.

Still, there’s always next time, right?
