MBE Program (Mind, Body, Emotion)

Hi Team. Hope you are enjoying your week. :)

The Mobile Classroom

As I mentioned a while back… Next month (August 20-22) I will be facilitating a different kind of personal development program here in Victoria. It will run from Friday night (the 20th) until Sunday afternoon (the 22nd). While most of my programs are the sit down, pay attention, take notes, have a few laughs (maybe a few tears), ask a few questions kind of affair, this weekend will be quite different in that it will be a combination of hiking (and general outdoorsy stuff) and personal development lessons (in 45-60 minute instalments) in one of Australia’s most beautiful wilderness and coastal regions: Wilson’s Promontory.

A Few Details…

While there will be a reasonable amount of hiking and physical stuff, it’s definitely not a fitness program (as such). Anyone with a reasonable fitness level should manage comfortably. If you’re into wildlife, there will be some nice distractions for you along the way (emus, kangaroos, deer, etc.). Yes, you will sleep in heated huts (in a warm bed). Yes, you will (probably) get wet at some stage. Yes, you will get stinky and sweaty. Yes, you will get (mildly) uncomfortable. Yes, you will have fun. Yes, you will learn. Yes, you should stay at home if you’re a five-star Princess. And yes, I will protect you from the big scary animals. Unless, of course, they eat me first.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), we could only secure thirty places (that was the bed limit), so we will be taking a relatively small group. While there will be an emphasis on the learning, growing and changing stuff, it’s also our objective to connect with others, have fun and enjoy ourselves socially. If it’s possible to have an informal (laid-back) personal development program, this is definitely it. To be honest, I’m pretty excited about this weekend because it’s gonna be a blast.

Here’s the quick snapshot:

Where? Wilson’s Promontory (the southern-most point of mainland Australia)
Specifically? Staying at Tidal River Camping Ground
When? August 20-22 (Program runs Friday 8.00 pm – Sunday 2 pm)
Arrive? From 5pm
Cost: $425.00 ($375.00 until this Friday – July 23)
Who is the program for? (1) Anyone wanting to create better results and lasting change in their world. (2) People who are sick and tired of being sick and tired. (3) People in need of a breakthrough. (4) Anyone who wants to hang out with some inspiring and motivating people for a couple of days. (5) People who enjoy nature. (6) Anyone who is genuinely ready to take the next step on their personal growth journey. (7) The over-thinker. (8) The procrastinator. (9) The talent-waster. (10) The scaredy-cat.

A few answers to the most-frequently asked questions:

1. Yes, there are hot showers.
2. Yes, BYO sleeping bag.
3. Meals provided except Friday dinner.
4. The ‘Prom’ is about a three-hour drive from Melbourne.
5. If you are coming from interstate, we will probably be able to organise a lift for you (you will need to make your own way to Harper’s in Brighton).

To make a booking or for more details, you can email Johnnie here or call him on (03) 9553 8857 or 0413 244 614. He’s friendly like a Golden Retriever, so don’t be afraid. ;)

A bloke from Portland in the US of A wishes he could join y’all. Sounds like something right up my 72 year old alley. Have fun and let us know what you taught yourself when you return.
Cheers, Gary

Big Craig Fan in WA wants to know if Craig will do something similar to the retreat he is doing in VIC in WA soon ?

Rae July 20, 2010 at 12:05 pm

Having lost 30 something kilos over the past 2 years, my walking program has flittered out the window since I gave up a 40 per day smoking habit….
(Rae has been Smoke Free now for One Month, Fifteen Days, 23 Hours and 55 Minutes and has extended their life expectancy by 4 Days and 18 Hours, by not smoking 1880 cigarettes that would have cost them $688.31.)
So although I am smoke free (without to much discomfort) I now feel “lumpy…”
What I am trying to say…. is that I WILL be there despite a recent diagnosise of Social Anixety Disorder.
(Now to actually book then to actually get into the car at the appropriate time and end up at the Prom and not back home…)

Melissa July 20, 2010 at 12:12 pm

Booked! Can’t wait to get there :)

Lorelle July 20, 2010 at 12:17 pm

Booked in with Johnny. See you there Craig.

M@ July 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm

‘Encouraged’ the wife to book in – and she did! It’s amazing what removing every excuse does to a person’s willingness to commit. Sacrificing my had-earned ‘play money’ to send her, but I think she needs the motivation more than I need a new gadget to play with…plus, I get the benefit of you guys returning her full of hope, drive and inspiration.

It’s a huge step for her to do this – going away with a bunch of strangers, on her own, confronting her issues etc…I’m proud of her for making the leap – and thankful to Craig and Co. for presenting the opportunity.

Stephen July 21, 2010 at 9:10 am

Kerry July 21, 2010 at 6:50 pm

I didn’t think I’d be fit enough to go, but as Johnny pointed out, there’s still a month to get myself to the minimum level of fitness. So guess what. I’m coming. Woohooooooooooooo!!! Thanks Craig.

Lisa July 21, 2010 at 6:51 pm

Annie August 5, 2010 at 9:53 pm

I believe that there are a few elements required to achieve success and potential that are not on the list – health (psycho social and physical) and, associated with those are energy. The list is fantastic – a couple of fundamentals could influence outcomes for those feeling “unwell”. I am now of the opinion that when someone feels “unwell” that needs to be addressed and the easy physical conditions need to be ruled out as potential influences for lack of potential achievement; next the mental conditions. When a healthy balance is achieved the pie as you have built it Craig makes fantastic sense. I am just looking at the very vulnerable youth with whom I am working – I check out the basics alongside to building the success pie. Sometimes the pie needs basics such as sufficient intellect, physical health and mental wellness. I am using this success pie theory with my adolescents – thanks Craig. You know that I am always looking for ways to motivate and encourage them. When we build our own pie ingredients for adolescents I will share with the group. Annie

Yep – 2 weeks and I am just off “start mode”. I haven’t lost or gained any weight and I am drinking way less. I bought the skipping rope yesterday as I could not find my trusty old leather one – could not find one in a sports’ store in Box Hill yesterday!!
I am not really sure how to get off “start Mode”. It is almost like a slef punishment or devaluing of self. It’s a feeling that I haven’t experienced before as I could easily tick your 20 items for the success pie this week. This is so odd as even working with Mandi is not kick starting me as I had hoped. Anyway I am not giving up and will “start” again today. It is great to read that others also have trouble getting into the “start” mode and the drink at night after a torrid day is not just my problem. Thanks Craig. Annie

Annie August 13, 2010 at 8:36 am

Started to skip morning and night – about 300 total now – knees groaning along with the huffing and puffing – quite disgusting really to be so unfit and fat! Days still great – nights really difficult. Anyway I am still in there – I am going to email Mandi to change my accountability measures – at the moment the long term accountability is too easy to break. To really move into a healthier way of living I will need to be on notice daily and not allowed to weasle out because I don’t send in my food and exercise diary. Exercise is always OK – I just enjoy every moment and always have done. Food, drink – another story!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the push – I know that you are always in for the long haul and do not give up on us. Next week I hope to have a more positive response. Annie
