Inspiration without the words

Hi Team.

Before today’s offering, a brief update…

Accountability Partners

The Bald Man has been working his muscular ass off to develop our Accountability Partner Forum with his buddies Brendon Sinclair and Anthony who are Web Designers & Web Marketing Experts over at Tailored Consulting. They are guns at what they do – thanks lads. We expect that the forum will be up and running by the start of next week. We have had an amazing response to the Accountability Partner concept, so we want to get it right from the start and ensure that we create something which not only adds value to our site, but also to your life. Thanks also to everyone who offered to help in getting the forum up and running.

Ideas from you

strenght in numbersLike everything the Bald Man and I do, this site is a constant work in progress. Everything you see and read on this site is the result of much thought, discussion, planning and care on our behalf. We are doing our very best to create something of genuine value in the rapidly expanding world that is the Blogosphere, and also striving to develop a resource which stands alone as a beacon of inspiration, education and hope in a vast wasteland of Personal Development crap. Sometimes we get it right, often we get it wrong, but every day we’re doing our best to create something spectacular. We will absolutely continue to do the best we can, with what we’ve got. For us and for you. As you’ve probably gathered, we’re not interested in developing an ordinary website. What’s the fun in that? Ordinary is boring. We will continue to do, be and create amazing, not because we’re more talented than the next person but because that’s the standard we have set for ourselves.

Over the coming year we have many goals for the site. At the top of our list is to build a Cyber Community where people can come together, build relationships, learn, grow, exchange ideas, help each other out, contribute to something or someone other than themselves, encourage other people and generally, do some good. The forum we’re about to launch will be a big part of this.

With all this in mind, we would love your feedback, ideas and suggestions about how we might develop the site over the next year or two. How can we make it better? What would you like to see more or less of? Be creative, be specific and be honest. Obviously we can’t act on every suggestion but we will definitely discuss and consider them all. Thankyou for your help.

Renovate Your Life Workshop

We’ve also had a great response to our Personal Development Workshop (RYL) coming up in June, with a bunch of people booked in already and a whole lot trying to figure out accommodation, airfares and the general logistics of a weekend interstate. If you have any general enquiries give Johnnie a call on (03) 9553 8857 during business hours and he’ll sort you out.

Okay, enough news and chat.

Some music to massage your tired soul…

We all know that periodically I have a propensity to be somewhat verbose; I talk too much. I did it again, didn’t I? It’s an only-child thing. I’m working on it. In fact, today is part of my less-is-sometimes-more rehab process. Instead of trying to inspire you with a mountain of words, today I thought I’d let a very talented Australian musician share some inspiration with you via his incredible gift. For once you don’t have to think, just listen. Nice. Sometimes it’s good to turn off your brain for a while and just be. I don’t know about you, but music inspires me, moves me and takes me to a better place. It’s good for my head and my heart. Sometimes I find that not thinking is the therapy I need.

Many of you Aussies will know John Butler for the amazing talent that he is, and for my international friends, I’m sure he’s someone you’ll enjoy meeting. Take a listen as JB makes his guitar talk and let me know what you think by clicking on the comment thingy.

Enjoy.

Hi Craig,

LOVE your site and everything that goes into it and how it continues to grow! You and your team, ie Johnnie etc are AWESOME! You are already sticking out above the other personal development websites!

Hmm, dunno how this would/could be possible, (laugh cause of the possibly dumb arse idea if ya like!) and I mention it as a type of joke anyway!

I can’t decide how assessment could happen BUT:
* We could have ‘Craig Harper Striving For Excellence’ type of diploma that you could name. Your team could decide on the criteria and how assessment happens, (guess it needs to be really flexible as everyones circumstances are totally different). Of course we must push ourselves and must show we can be committed to see a job to the end or until goal is attained before we receive our certificate or badge. Perhaps we could attain a bronze badge when we attain goal one, a silver badge a year later if we’ve not slipped backward to square one along the way and moved forward to a set further point.
Then a bigger challenge for a gold badge the following year

And the hope is that bronze, silver and gold badge owners will promote your website, maybe try to organise ‘meets’ in the local district and make mates and aquaintences with other ‘badge holders and strivers’ throughout the world.

Hi Craig.

Long time lurker, first time commenter. Love your site, love your way of communicating a message and love your honesty. I have referred all of my friends to the site and they all love your no bullshit approach and weird-ass (as you put it) sense of humour. Keep doing what you do and thanks.

Hi Craig,

Ih ave only been perusing your website for a few days, but am loving it so far! I love your straight-up, no bs attitude. It’s so refreshing not to have someone pussy-foot around things, but actually get to the point. I have ordered Fattitude, and look forward to reading it when I receive it.

The Personal Development Workshop sounds fab – any chance you’d come to NZ (specifically Christchurch!) to do one? I wish!

Take care,

Sus :)

Hey Pip.

That’s a really interesting idea. It’s planted a seed in my small but very fertile brain! You think about it, I’ll think about it, and we’ll see if we can transform it from Pip’s idea into a ‘something’.

Clever girl.

Are you on track with your food and training, or do I need to come over there and kick your ass?

Hi Jan, congrats on stepping out of the Lurkershpere and into the light! Sounds a bit religious doesn’t it!?

Glad you’re enjoying the site…

Hi Sus.

Welcome!

Yes, I do have a PhD in blunt.
And I missed that class in political correctness at college.
Oh well.

As I say to everyone else who asks that question, you get a hundred of your buddies together and I’m there for your workshop! I do stuff in NZ but it’s usually corporate – I would love to run a RYL program over there but I have a few logistics to sort first!

Thanks for saying hi Sus and keep enjoying the site….

Hi Craig,

I hope you’re well!

First things first, I’m trying my hardest up here in not-so-sunny-England to make sure I’m down in Melbourne in time for your workshop in June. I’ll be in Australia on a 12 month working holiday sometime soon, but I’m not quite sure of the date. If I manage to be down there in June and there’s still places avaliable, I’ll add a little international flavour to the workshop.

In the past you’ve spoken a lot about working with, socialising with and networking with like-minded people. Positive people. Creative people. Spiritual people. Inspirational people.

But sometimes, for those who have grown up amongst the negative “life’s a bitch” crowd, it is hard to escape. You asked for suggestions to improve your site over the next 12 months, and so my suggestion would be to provide a means (Time and Place) for your readers to meet face to face.
Bringing a bunch of positive people who want to make change and continue change. Who want to learn and continue to learn. Who want to teach and continue to teach. Bring them all together in one place for a day or a couple of days to interact, network, learn, teach and share experiences.

I think the forum will play a big role in this, in that it will allow your readers to build relationships with each other, rather than just building a relationship with you. But I would absolutely love to see the forum taken a step further over the next year or so to develop it in to something that allows these positive people to meet offline, as well as online.

I suppose you’ll have to see how successful the forum is once it is made public, but I hope this idea is something you’ll keep in mind as you see the forum develop. I’ve been a part of gatherings of forum members in the past. I once flew from the UK to Toronto for a back-yard BBQ held by a member of a forum I visit. We got a bunch of the forum members together and took the relationships formed online and brought them offline. It was a fantastic experience, and we found that the conversation in the forum was continued when we met offline.

We often see online and offline as two different worlds, but really they are one big world that when combined well, will produce a gathering like no other.

I hope that helps, and I hope to be there in June!

Jamie

Hey Craig!

Did J.B. make you soar way up high? Did it feel like you could burst into a thousand stars? Did it make you want to spin around the room? Laugh out loud and thank god that you are alive?

Thanks for sharing.

Peace.
