D.I.Y. Motivation; It’s Your Turn.

Hello Girls and Boys.

I’ve been a little under the pump today (it’s now late Tuesday) doing some of the stuff that pays the bills. Johnny gets mad at me when I don’t actually produce income on at least a semi-regular basis, so I thought I best do some real work. Amazingly, I don’t get paid to blog and although he looks all peaches and cream… he can be a bitch when I don’t earn my keep. A consequence of today’s busy-ness is that I didn’t get the promised post (part two of Thoughts About Thought) finished. It’s eighty percent done but I can’t have you reading an ‘almost’ article can I? Maybe I should publish it anyway and you guys could finish for me… there’s a idea.

island relaxInstead, I thought that today might be an opportunity for you guys to inspire and/or teach each other with one of your fave inspirational, motivational, educational sayings. If you have a saying, an expression or a quote which has been meaningful and helpful on your journey, stop being greedy and share it with the rest of us! It could be just what we need today!

I’ll getcha started with one of my faves:

“Who I am and who I will become is not pre-determined; it’s me-determined.”

So I’ll be back tomorrow with part two of the missing post but in the mean time, put your fingers on the keyboard, stop being a chicken lurking in the cyber-shadows and share some of your personal inspiration. I’ve inspired you for long enough… now it’s time for you to cough up!

Click on the comment thingy and start typing.

Ciao x

Craig,

Bummer real work getting in the way of fun….party pooper Johnny!

I think it is probably a good idea to wait an extra day for the 2nd half of the thinking one…my head may have stopped spinning by then!

I have a saying which is appropriate to weight watchers, not mine but inspirational to me anyway…nothing tastes as good as slim feels!

Oh and one of my mum’s that I use too…If something is worth doing it is worth doing well.

I do like your quote though Craig, I think I will steal it!

Thanks and hugs

Michelle

You are lucky to have Johnny giving you a shove. I am sure that we could all get more done with someone breathing down oue neck and looking over our shoulder.
Love your quote.
I actually saw one today and i think it is an abbreviation of one of Lance Armstrong’s quotes.
‘Pain is temporary, but quitting lasts forever’.

My favourite quote at the moment is one i sort of put together from a variety of sources … and it helps me to focus on things one step at a time …

make the best decision you can every time, it might not be the right decision .. but next decision you get another chance.

Hi Craig,

So many quotes, so late at night.

It is better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand days as a lamb.

My two fav quotes right now:

“You miss 100% of the shots you never take.” -Wayne Gretzky

“It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt

Do, or do not. There is no “try”.
- Jedi Master Yoda

I am always “trying” to…lose weight/exercise/clean out closets/etc. The problem is that I am only “trying” in my mind. Unless I physically DO SOMETHING, all the mental yearning accomplishes nothing.

Hello, everybody!

My saying isn’t something that sound very well, but I gave all my heart for every word in this saying, so you, my friend from wide world, please listen.

Take free time and be alone with yourself. In deep silence you hear your heart tick, your honest soul begins to talk with you, your true desires comes to you through imagination. Let silence tell you want you must know.

My favourite quote that I keep using at the moment is…

“Definition of Insanity – Expecting things to be different but not being prepared to make any changes!”

I am guessing there are lots of “insane” people in this world…

Love your quote Craig!!

One of my all time faves is

“You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind”

I also like

“Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, thats why it’s called the present”

My fav quotes at the moment:

’seek out that particular mental attitude which makes you feel most deeply and vitally alive,
along with which comes the inner voice which says, “This is the real me” – William James

And of course Rocky:
“Beat the Meat”. That’s what i say to myself when i’m punching and kicking the bag. It keeps me going when my arms feel about ready to give up “beat the meat, beat the meat cmon Ange keep going beat the meat beat the meat.”

Craig you make Johnny sound like the perfect wife.Who cares if you’ve got an ulcer the size of a boulder so long as you keep that cash coming. Do you know what a woman’s lullaby is? Ka-ching, Ka-ching, Ka-ching. Your woman can’t sleep? Just cuddle her up in your arms and softly start repeating ‘ka ching’ ka ching and she’ll be in dreamy land in no time.

From Philip Adams:” It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don’t. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever.”

An unusual source perhaps but it sums up a lot of people. I really like it. For someone low on confidence, it gives me the kick in the bum I need…..

Hi Craig & everyone reading,

One of my fave quotes is a little deep, but it is very motivational for me…

"To dream anything that you want to dream. That's the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed.”

I can't remember where i first read it but i have never forgotten it…

Hi Craig, here’s your verse from Proverbs 23:7 in a theologically accepted modern translation, in it’s context:

Proverbs 23:6-8 (Today’s New International Version)
6 Do not eat the food of a begrudging host, do not crave his delicacies;
7 for he is the kind of person who is always thinking about the cost[a] “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.
8 You will vomit up the little you have eaten and will have wasted your compliments.

Footnote [a]
Proverbs 23:7 Or for as he thinks within himself, / so he is

So I guess in the context it’s about a person whose heart, mind and behaviour are ‘out of sinc’. What you see is NOT what you get!

And I guess the question we should ask ourselves is: “am I really what I appear to be, or is my life a facade, a charade to impress people?” Living that way is emotionally exhausting, and how can we live our best life and contribute in our own unique way to the world around us if what we do is only done to impress people?

If that’s how we are living, and we don’t want to live that way any more it’s going to take a thorough search of our thinking habits and where they came from, before we will be able to change ourselves.

I suppose we also need to think about what kind of people we want to hang around with, the kind described in these verses (they can sometimes look pretty impressive on the ‘outside’) or authentic people. When we become authentic ourselves we begin to have a 6th sense for spotting facades designed only to impress. And they do make us want to puke!

Hear endeth the sermon! Sorry but you started it by quoting from my favourite personal development book!

For people who might be interested a great website for looking up bible verses in lots of different translations is www,biblegateway.com

Hugs from my authentic self to your authentic self

When all else fails i go and see a stonemason and watch them hit the stone 99 times and on the 100th a crack appears and I know that it took the 99 hits for it to show.

Read that somewhere apparently its very old but i like it,

Here’s a few of my favourite ones.

Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.

Nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so.

Follow your dreams, they know the way.

Happiness is not having what you want but wanting what you have.

The secret of living is giving.

It is almost impossible to watch a sunset a not dream.

I like sayings hehe, just short and sweet.

A few of my favourite quotes:

“If you don’t like something change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain”

“People are just about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

“You haven’t failed until you stop trying.”

Sus August 14, 2008 at 6:03 am

It’s a bit early for inspirational thoughts at the moment, but whenever I’m stuck on making a decision to do or not do something, I think of my favourite quote …

“Sometimes it works, and sometimes it hurts, but it almost always beats the heck out of not knowing. Make your move now or forever live in doubt.”

Not sure who that quote is from, but I love it!

Sus :)
